happy turkey day
i can't believe tomorrow is Thanksgiving. no panic about the relatives, no mass cooking frenzy, and certainly no wearing of sweaters! this weekend most volunteers get together to have an ex-pat party complete with pumpkin pie and turkey, pretty excited. my Beninese friends refer to this as the American's fete (party) of the turkeys. i just got back from a Moringa conference in Ghana. it was organized by the Moringa News team (www.moringanews.org) their site explains the product i'm working with. it really was great to make some contacts there which will hopefully come in handy during our new project (details to come). i still don't know much about Accra or the country of Ghana itself as we didn't really have time to leave the hotel but it was a beachside resort with a great view, hot water, and flushing toilets. some of the roads looked like they could have been in the US with huge houses and mercedes parked in the drive. Benin has it's share of upscale living too but it seems more common in Ghana. in the midst of everything that is going on here, i've been a visitor to the med unit for a few days to rid myself of some pesky parasites which can really do a number on your gut. nothing serious, don't freak out dad! i'm bustin' out tomorrow to visit a project just started in the city of Bohicon, a Moringa plantation.
